What a terrific place! My wife and I were looking for a medium term rental (2-3 weeks) while we were awaiting the arrival of our son. Rod's apartment was perfect in every way. Located in beautiful, scenic country, yet merely 30 minutes from UVM hospital, this well-equipped, pleasingly decorated, and largish space was absolutely ideal as a holiday retreat, a place to prepare to become new parents, and as a place providing close access to a leading hospital in the country. My wife and I appreciated that there was much space for us to hang out but also work separately. The King Bed is super comfortable and the kitchen appliances are all in excellent working condition. The nearby villages have ample access to stores (groceries/pharmacies/gas/restaurants) and a bit further towards Burlington, there are big box stores and places like Panera and Star Bucks. We found Lantman's grocery store in Hinesburg (five miles drive) a surprisingly well-stocked little store. We would definitely stay again!

Rod's place was amazing! I loved it... It was far enough away to feel like we were by ourselves but close enough to everything to enjoy. Rod was very attentive to everything and answered questions timely. Great space and art throughout... Can't wait to go back again!

The room was much more that a room it was a full size living space with a King size bed very comfortable. full kitchen, full bath, large living room. I rate the experience excellent and have put it on my list to recommend and to return to. Go well Larry

This "home of your own" on quiet country lane off the beaten track in Vermont is the perfect place from which to experience, and be restored by, the beauty of Vermont. It's "off the beaten track," so offers the beauty and privacy of the countryside, but with all of the "civilization" you could want or need just minutes away. The private apartment that Rod is offering is truly like home--only WAY better: beautiful in itself, designed by Rod (who is an exceptional artist), with lovely and natural finishes, gentle colors to go with the surrounding landscape that stretches beyond every window (I had binoculars always handy), perfect in size, and comfortably maintained so that guests can relax completely. Which I did! Was the description accurate? Very -- but words could never really capture the comfort of being in a place so well-lived in. The entire building, including Rod's studio, and grounds exude welcome and openness. Rod himself is the most gracious of hosts, and whatever he invites you to see -- say YES. His studio, especially. If you need help with the smallest thing, he's right there by phone or e-mail (but never intrusive) -- and openly glad to have your there, too, enjoying the space, inside and out. I used the indoor spaces as a "writers retreat" several hours most days, and the rest of the time explored the nearby hiking trails, visited the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm (don't miss it!), Middlbury College, the Shelbourne Museum, and quirky little towns and sights all within a comfortable 20-45-minute driving range. Burlington airport, too, is just 30 minutes away. As for your host, Rod, you could not find a better one. He made me feel incredibly welcome from the first e-mail exchange. And you feel that welcome throughout the space he has created for guests. You know he's close by if you need anything small or large, and it just seems like a privilege to share such a beautiful spacious environment with someone who enjoys it himself so thoroughly...and wants to share it with others. If you're lucky enough to be able to spend some time exploring this beautiful state, especially in the fall, this "quiet Vermont country lane" is the perfect place to experience the best it has to offer. Thank you, Rod!
